"Where Is My Mind?"

"Your only obligation in any lifetime is to be true to yourself. Being true to anyone else or anything else is not only impossible, but the mark of a fake messiah."

"You are always free to change your mind and choose a different future, or a different past."

Two Richard Bach quotes. Which holds more truth?

Recently I agree with both wholeheartedly. Trying to start a fire with matches takes more time than a lighter, just as a meaningful relationship that isn't rushed into does. I feel so nostalgic that taking my time and waiting for something exciting to happen seems to be the thing to do. It's a discission I feel I am obligated to make. Too much rushing around has got my mind reeling. I'm swimming in a sea of false perception and the only figure I can make out in the murk is his lanky body. I believe he is free to change is past, but will he do it for me?

It strikes more than once.

Sweat beads on your brow, something pushes at your temples. It rises in your throat like a sickness. Lightning strikes a chord somewhere in the depths of your soul. That's how it's been for the past few days. I've been hit by lightning.

Have you ever noticed how the slightest sound sets us off? Sets, at the very least, our minds into motion. How amazing is it that we have been able to channel groupings of sounds and vibrations into a medium known as music? Mathematics and physics can explain it in detail but you don't need a high school GED to know that we can literally feel music.

Three or four gentle key strokes on a piano can set a room into random, yet elegant, and fluid movements. Ballroom dancers cross their partners and exchange glances that say 'for tonight, you are mine' as they glide in flowing gowns. Like filled gloves, dancing hand in hand with their partners.

One series of strums on a guitar can evoke an amalgam emotions as a father sings a song for his daughter. With each quiver in his voice, you can tell it is becoming harder and harder, but more relieving, to sing the words he's been trying to say for years. We are more likely to embrace song than speech.

If The World is Ending, I'm Throwing The Party

Sometimes you need someone to hold your hand and walk you through your trials and tribulations. Other times you would rather sit back and reflect, by yourself, and come up with new means for conquering your demons. And in other, more unfortunate situations, it seems like it would be easier to let the demons that are plaguing you, defeat you.

Since existentialism is a popular enough practice, let's go with that tomorrow and see how things work. Try it on 'for size', if you will. 5 times out of 100 you need a day of complete sadness, absolute despotism and total loss. Tomorrow, I feel, is my day for a pessimists outlook on life.

Bring it on.
